Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)
After a series of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Dubbed Space Key and developed in collaboration with an unknown artist, it is made up of an advanced carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station for research purposes.
Developed in collaboration NFT PRO(tm).
Lamborghini, the Italian supercar manufacturer has taken the first step into the world non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The new project, dubbed the Space Key - is a piece of art made by a collaboration with an unknown artist. The one-of-a-kind NFT is a tangible item that has a link to exclusive digital artwork, accessible via a QR code that is located on the back. The project is a limited edition and will be auctioned off in the coming weeks.
The Space Key is made from a carbon fiber composite material that Lamborghini smuggled to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. The carbon fiber was then transformed into an original artwork after it returned to Earth. The physical element has an NFT serial code that links to the digital image via QR code printed on the back.
For those who do not know, NFTs are distinct identifiers recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger. They are linked to a digital asset, such as a photograph, video or other type of record. This allows owners to verify the authenticity, scarcity and trackability of their tokens over the internet.
Lamborghini takes this unique approach to art to a new level by working with NFT PRO - an all-white label NFT solution for business. In the coming weeks, Lamborghini will share details about this exciting project. This includes the name of the artists who are unknown as well as a timeline for auction.
The physical element of Space Key
Following a string of social media posts that tease something that was space-related, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has stepped into the realm of tokens that aren't fungible (NFT) with a unique project dubbed Space Key. Developed in collaboration with an unknown artist The NFT is a collector's item that will be auctioned off in just a few weeks time. Its underlying structure is made of the most advanced carbon fiber composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a study. The carbon fiber was 3D printed to form the basis of each Space Key, which is connected to an exclusive, entirely digital design using an QR code on the back of the key. Only five Space Keys were produced.
NFTs are unique identifications that are recorded in distributed ledgers, like the Blockchain and connected to digital assets like images. They're a hot topic among those with more money than sense, so it was only a matter time before an automaker decided to cash in on the trend.
Space Key consists of five units. It was constructed with a physical part of carbon fiber composite that was sent to the ISS in 2019. Each NFT will come with a QR code which links it to a unique digital art work created by the same artist. In the coming weeks and days, more information will be revealed, including the name and digital artwork of the artist as well how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.
The digital artwork
After weeks of social-media posts hinting it, luxury car maker Lamborghini finally announced its first initiative for tokens that are non-fungible (NFT). The Space Key is a collection of five physical objects that allows you to access an exclusive digital work by an unidentified artist. It was created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm) the 'collector's piece' is limited to only five units and will soon be auctioned off.
At the heart of each Space Key is a block made of a high-tech carbon fire composite material that was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research program. After returning to Earth, the block was engraved using a QR code that links to the digital element of the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that happens seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Over 600 million pixels up each of the five images which were shot by photographer Fabian Oefner.
Oefner utilized an inflatable camera equipped with lenses to capture the individual images, which were later assembled into the final photograph. The result is an out-of-this world image that reveals the beauty of the Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic image of the car rising away from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off soon, but there is no exact date or place yet.
